I have been privileged to have served as Douglas
County Chief Probation Officer since 1986. Prior to that, I was employed for
seven years with Champaign County Probation. Our decision to move to this
county has been one of the best decisions that Susan and I have ever made. We
are both “small town” folks. It’s just nice to be able to walk around town
after the sun goes down and not have to worry about being mugged. (People in Champaign-Urbana, God love them,
wouldn’t know about that.)
As importantly, it has been a wonderful career
decision. I was honored to work for twenty-two years for Judge Frank Lincoln,
and presently work for Judge Michael Carroll, and I have learned a lot from
both of them. I am also blessed with the best probation staff in the State of Illinois, even if I
can’t pay them what they’re worth.
